We're in Spain!

Wednesday night – by Debbie

We’re here.  We’re really here!  Sleep-deprived and hungry, but who the heck cares?  We’re in Spain!

The beginning of our travel day wasn’t looking good as Bruce showed up at my house ready to go… and having just gotten stung 3 times by hornets.  Really?  We patched him up and he bore the pain like a soldier, never mentioning it the entire trip.  Complainers in this family, BEWARE!  The King of Sucking It Up is leading this adventure and won’t put up with your whining.

Then we had to say goodbye to two dogs who are skilled in the art of guilt-tripping.  They could tell we were getting ready to leave them and had been moping around the house for the past couple of days.  When we finally were ready to go, they were hiding under the table.  Yes, Sammy and Pippin, you will miss us, but we are being replaced by two awesome dog lovers who will spoil you rotten.  You’ll be fine.  I know you have abandonment issues but you’re just dogs!  Deal with it.  I’m in freaking Europe!  (And, thank you, Buster and Lorin, for taking care of them!)

Everything went as planned, with extras, such as eating macarons in the Paris airport like good tourists.  This is how we spent the past 27 hours:  we flew to Paris; took a bus to another airport in Paris; flew to Malaga, Spain; rented a car; and drove to Ronda.  Insert lots and lots of waiting in between all that movement.  And picture three boys with amazing attitudes through it all.  Seriously.

So, here we are.  Three sleepy boys and two happy parents, so grateful.

  1. I hadn't heard about the hornet stings! How, where, why? I thought Bruce went to Starbucks and they don't usually allow hornets.

Thanks, David, for the picture. And Debbie for the account of the first 27 hours. Hugs for all!
